How to Choose the Right Siding: Siding Installation in NJ

Are you in need of siding installation in NJ? North American Pfister has been providing homeowners with reliable and quality siding installation for over 40 years. Our professional siding contractors have the skills and experience to install or replace the siding of your home and leave you with your siding looking beautiful.

But how do you choose the right type of siding for your home? Do you go with the classic vinyl siding or do you choose fiber cement siding? There are a few things to consider the next time you need to choose the right siding:

  1. Water Resistance: When you choose a siding that is water resistant, you will get a longer life span.
  2. Ease of Installation: The more difficult the installation, the higher the cost.
  3. Energy Efficiency: Certain siding will insulate your house better than others, which will in turn save you money on your energy bills.
  4. Aesthetics: Make sure that you choose the siding you will love seeing when you pull up to your house everyday.
  5. Versatility: If your house has any aspects that will cause our siding contractors to have to make adjustments, your price will increase.
  6. Durability: How does the siding you chose hold up to every day wear and tear? Do you want something that is going to last a long time? Or are you okay with choosing something for looks rather than longevity.
At North American Pfister, we offer vinyl siding in NJ and fiber cement siding in NJ. The following is information about both, so you can have a better idea of the facts before you decide.

Vinyl
  • Vinyl siding is made primarily from PVC, a plastic material, that will expand and contract with changing temperatures.
  • There is a wider range of colors and styles that you can choose from compared to other types of siding.
  • With insulated vinyl siding, you will reduce the amount of heat loss in the winter and keep your house cool in the summer from the protection of the sun's heat.
  • Because of the flexibility of the material, there is a small chance of chips and cracks occurring.
  • There is no need for additional work before or after installation, besides a spray cleaning with a hose every so often.
Fiber Cement
  • Comes in a selection of textures creating the appearance of real wood, but it is more durable that wood because it is termite-resistant, water-resistant, and non-flammable.
  • It is composed of cement, sand or fly ash and cellulose fiber.
  • Typically the cost is more than vinyl siding, but still less than wood siding.
  • Maintenance required involves spraying it with a hose about every 6 to 12 months, inspecting caulked joints every few years, and be sure to keep foundation plants pruned back so that siding can dry out.
