Vinyl siding offers many advantages to
homeowners. In it's early days it was a replacement for aluminum
siding, but problems arose quickly giving it a stigma. Common
problems were sagging, discoloring and cracking. But that was the
60's and as with everything, technology has changed that. One of the
main benefits to the newer construction of vinyl siding is it is
nearly maintenance free.
Here is a list of the other advantages:
- Environmentally friendly – Because vinyl siding requires fewer resources during manufacturing and maintenance, and it is recyclable.
- Its durability – Vinyl siding is made of PVC (Poly Vinyl Chloride) resin that is then combined with other elements to ensure its durability and flexibility. Acrylic compounds help the siding resist denting and degradation due to extreme weather. Titanium dioxide and other chemicals are added to protect the color in vinyl siding.
- Color retention – Because the pigments are mixed into the PVC resin, it holds on to a deep penetrating color that goes through the siding. This prevents scratches and blemishes from becoming noticeable, something wood and aluminum can not withstand.
- Affordability – Vinyl is now so commonly used because it costs anywhere between 25% to 50% less than wood or aluminum siding.
One of the key things you need to
remember about installing vinyl siding is that it is only as good as
the installation. North American Pfister have been vinyl siding contractors in NJ for over 30 years and bring years of
experience and knowledge to all contracting jobs they provide.
